once upon a time...

Stand up, out of your chair. Walk out the door, out of the studio. Stop looking at jpegs of architecture and experience it. And while you're at it, enjoy yourself.

See the world. Feel the breeze.

Our goal

is to promote the adventure and inspire the adventurer with stories of greatness and pictures of enjoyment.

This site is dedicated to just that, a way of allowing friends to showcase their adventures with the world and a test to see how many icons could be visited and flashed.

The History

It began as most movements do, as an idea. Unlike others, however, this unique idea was shared by two gentleman scholars with a vivid imagination and a thirst for travel. As students of design, they knew that the aspects of architecture such as quality of light, materiality, social aspects, and an overall feel of the space could not be fully understood in a picture. So with little money, little hesitation, and sometimes little food, they traveled far to see the icons of architecture within the cultures from which they spawned.

The Story Itself

On a trip to the windy city Chicago, the first of many, many architectural flashings occurred in front of Frank Lloyd Wright's famous Robie House.  As a way to proclaim, "I made it, see me roar!" the visitor stood before the Robie house and spontaneously lifted his shirt, exposing his bare chest for the photograph, which was then sent to friends asking them to see it for themselves.

As more people heard the tale and saw the picture, a small movement of subsequent occurrences began, first in the United States, but it has since made its way all over the world.

If you are new to this movement, stop reading now, and just say yes to the next opportunity to travel that comes your way. Planned ahead or spur of the moment, SEE THE WORLD, FEEL THE BREEZE.
